Research Trials at the Center for Heart Sciences
Research...
  Education...
    Patient Care...

The mission of the University of Toledo is to improve the human condition. We do this through the creation of new knowledge (research), the dissemination of knowledge (education), and the application of knowledge (patient care) to increase the length and quality of human lives.

At the Center for Heart Sciences at UT, we are actively involved in several clinical reseach projects to fulfill this mission. We are committed to the patients, students and physicians we serve, to provide the best patient care, education, and research possible in the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular disease.

Please contact Cathy George, Cardiovascular IRB Regulatory Specialist, (419) 383-3954, if your are interested in learning more about the following research:

Name of Study

Descriptions

Amadeus The AMADEUS trial: A multicenter, randomized, open-label assessor-blind, non-inferiority study comparing the efficacy and safety of one-weekly subcutaneous idraparinum (SR34006) with adjusted-dose oral vitamin-K antagonists in the prevention of thromboembolic events in patients with atrial fibrillation (Protocol EFC3484/64720-«AMADEUS»)
Anges A Phase II double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study to assess the safety and efficacy of AMG0001 to improve perfusion in critial leg ischemia (PROTOCOL AG-CLI-0202)
Asteroid A 104-Week, Open-label, Multi-Center, Phase IIIb Study Evaluating the Effect of Treatment with Rosuvastatin 40mg on Atherosclerotic Disease as Measured by Intravascular Ultrasound and Quantitative Coronary Angiopgraphy in Subjects Undergoing Coronary Angiography who have Coronary Artery Disease (Asteroid) IVUS Trial
CardioSEAL Use of CardioSEAL Septal Occluder through a Humanitarian Device Exemption
DXV-303 A Phase 3, Open-label, Multi-center Study of Efficacy and Safety of VISIPAQUE (Iodixanol) in Subjects with Suspected Peripheral Arterial Occlusive Disease Undergoing Intravenous Contrast-Enhanced Computed Tomographic Angiography
Ensure CRT Ensure cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) study
Flame Title: The FilterWire EZ System used in the treatment of an acute myocardial infarction for embolic protection
HF Action Title: HF-ACTION - for Heart Failure and A Controlled Trial Investigating Outcomes of Exercise TraiNing
High Frame Imaging High frame rate imaging with limited diffraction beams
Pfizer Ivus Phase 3, multi-center, double-blind, randomized, parallel group, coronary artery intravascular ultrasound evaluation of the anti-atherosclerotic efficacy, safety, and tolerability of fixed combination CP-529,414/Atorvastatin, administered orally, once daily (QD) for 24 months, compared with Atorvastatin alone, in subjects with angiographically documented coronary heart disease
Resist A prospective, randomized, multi-center study comparing the safety and efficacy of renal artery stenting with and without the use of a distal protection device (AngioGuard) and with and without the use of a platelet aggregator inhibitor (Abciximab)
Shield Open Label A multi-center, open-label, follow-up safety study to assess the long-term safety of 125 mg per day of oral Azimilide Dihydrochloride in patients with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator
Spironolactone in CHF Hemodynamic actions of Spironolactone in patients with congestive heart failure
TACT Trial to Assess Chelation Therapy (TACT) is a multi-center trial designed to test the effects of chelation therapy and antioxidant and mineral supplements in reducing further clinical cardiovascular events in patients with coronary heart disease
