Drs. John Feldmeier and E. Ishmael Parsai pose with the Mammosite catheter and equipment.

Radiation is a proven method used for treating many cancerous, as well as some noncancerous, conditions. Radiation therapy uses high-energy Xrays and electron beams to interrupt the growth of malignant cells.

At the University of Toledo Medical Center cancer patients are treated with state-of-the-art equipment by highly trained physicians and scientists.  Our department is accredited by the American College of Radiation Oncology.

We offer a variety of highly specialized and unique radiation treatments delivered in a university setting. These treatment methods include:

  • Partial breast irradiation treatment for breast cancer
  • Intraoperative Radiation Therapy (IORT)
  • Radionuclide Therapy
  • High dose-rate brachytherapy (HDR)
  • Stereotactic Radiosurgery Treatment (SRS)
  • Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT)

"We are proud to offer the northwest Ohio community the latest technology in radiation therapy services. Our staff is dedicated to caring and to technologically advanced therapy. We work with our colleagues in the other departments to provide the best therapies available today in a multi-disciplinary approach to cancer treatment."

Dr. John J. Feldmeier, D.O.
Professor and Chairman.
